Boone County, CVG, NKY, KY Grows again..leadership teamwork pulls off a major win for the tristate area

I am once again reminded at how lucky we are to live in Boone County, KY and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  Today, Amazon made a huge announcement which will make a huge impact on the tri-state area.  Amazon is building a worldwide cargo hub at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport which will bring 2,700 jobs to the area.

A feat of this size takes a team of visionary leaders from across the area including from Frankfort to pull off.  Credit should be given to those involved.  The article mentions Governor Matt Bevin played an important role. He is following through on his slogan that “Kentucky is open for business”.  Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport CEO Candice McGraw is on a role today with announcements, just a few hours ago, there was a press conference that Frontier was expanding their service from CVG to three more cities.  Boone County Judge Executive Gary Moore had a hand in landing the hub and growing the county once again.

With this type of growth the area is going to have more needs such as infrastructure, schools and resources for people locating to the area.  Northern Kentucky is going to need help from Frankfort for these investments.  My one concern which I have expressed often, with Boone County having one of the lowest unemployment rates and there being “help wanted” signs on every corner, where are the workers going to come from?  Agencies and government needs to start thinking outside the box to get more workers into the workforce or the small businesses who already compete in a tight labor market are not going to survive.

Boone County was already on track to be one of the fastest growing counties in the state, deals like this will lock in that ranking and probably surpass it for sure.
