A Peaceful Day Among Blooms, Bonsai, and Beautiful Fountain Shows – Longwood Gardens

I had such a wonderful experience at Longwood Gardens. The grounds are absolutely beautiful—you can easily spend hours exploring and still not see everything. It’s incredibly peaceful, with plenty of shaded areas and chairs scattered throughout, making it easy to slow down, relax, and take it all in.

I was especially happy that the tulips were still blooming during my visit—they were vibrant, colorful, and truly a highlight of the day.

One thing that really stood out was how many staff members were around. Whether they were tending to the gardens or available to answer questions, it added to the overall welcoming feel of the place.

I loved all of the water features—they were stunning and added to the calming atmosphere. Make sure to catch the water fountain shows—they’re beautifully done and absolutely a must-see while you’re there. There are also so many paths to wander, including areas out in the meadow that I didn’t even get to explore. It felt like every turn led to something new and beautiful.

The bonsai trees were a highlight for me—be sure to check them out! One of them has been in training since 1909, which is just incredible.

Admission was very reasonable at $35, though I’d recommend checking their Facebook page for discount codes (I found one after I had already purchased my tickets). A membership is only $120, and if I lived closer, I would absolutely take advantage of that and visit often.

Parking was plentiful and easy. The café had a great variety of options—from hot entrées to sandwiches and salads—and I even found a great deal: a hot dog and chips for just $7. There were also plenty of outdoor tables to enjoy a meal.

Another thoughtful touch: there are clean, well-maintained restrooms located all over the grounds. Many are individual restrooms with their own sink and toilet, which was really convenient.

Make sure you visit the house and watch the film—it provides a great overview and history of the gardens and really enhances the experience.

Overall, this was a fantastic visit. I’m already planning to bring one of my gardening friends with me the next time I’m in the area!
